Pathways is a Center for Independent Living providing services to people with disabilities in the seven westernmost counties of North Carolina. Pathways' four core services include Independent Living Skills Training, Advocacy, Peer Counseling and Information & Referral.
In addition, to the for core services, Pathways' CyberPals program accepts donated, used computers, refurbishes them and places them in the homes of their consumers with disabilities. These individuals may then obtain low cost internet connectivity, through a partnership with Mountain Area Information Network, allowing them to connect with family and friends; continue their education; research disability issues; start a cottage industry to earn extra money; or just surf the web. This program has developed many independent living skills for Pathways' consumers.
