Description
Passageway is a program assisting individuals with mental illness that follows the clubhouse model. We are focused on work and developing trusting relationships that will encourage participants (that we call members) to consider working in the community through our supported employment program. We are located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa and work with members with an Axis I diagnosis, such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and major depression. We are certifed through the ICCD (www.iccd.org) and are open to anyone in our community living with a mental illness. When an individual becomes a member of the clubhouse, they are empowered to decide when to attend and what work they want to assist in accomplishing. By their involvement they increase their self confidence, skills and belief in themselves, getting on the road to recovery.
