Parkways Foundation was created in 1994 as an avenue to raise private funds for projects within the Chicago Park District (CPD) for the enrichment of the physical and cultural landscape of Chicago's neighborhoods. Our scope includes, but is not limited to, the needs of children and families, historic preservation and overall beautification of our parks. Parkways also works to raise needed funds for the growth and enhancement of educational programs and camps in our neighborhoods
Parks impact our everyday lives more profoundly than any other public resource. Past generations have entrusted us with a magnificent park system that has evolved into the most extensive in the country: a collection of more than 550 parks, 250 field houses, 9 museums, 6 golf courses, 26 miles of lakefront and more than 9,000 annual programs. . Parkways identifies projects within the Park District where private donation makes the greatest impact on our parks.
