Description

The Parent Encouragement Program Inc. (PEP) is a local non-profit parenting education community organization in the Washington, DC area that helps parents develop stronger, healthier families. Parents learn practical and proven ways to encourage responsible behavior and healthy development. Over 3,000 parents a year attend a parenting program at PEP.

The program’s “positive parenting” philosophy is based on the internationally proven theories of Drs. Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs. Their work forms the basis of many parenting programs in the US and around the world and focuses on positive ways to teach children personal responsibility, cooperation, mutual respect, social inclusiveness and “social interest” (contributing to one’s community).
