Description
PACE, Inc. is a not for profit that has a board and staff comprised of at least 51% people who have disabilities themselves. We promote access and self reliance. PACE offers services which support efforts achieving or maintaining independence. Some services include:
Interpreter referral, Personal Assistant referral, Advocacy skills training, Homeownership Coalition for people with disabilities, Advocates for Access, small item Braille printing, Assertive ness training, Educational advocacy, Low Vision Groups for people 55+years, Amplified phone distribution, adaptive equipment loan. PACE serves 5 counties in central Illinois - Champaign, Douglas, Edgar, Piatt and Vermilion. There are 23 other CILs in the state of Illinois. All Centers for Independent Living offer the four core services: Information and referral, skills training, advocacy individual and systemic and peer counseling.
