Description
Formerly the Rape Crisis Center of Asheville and Buncombe County, Our VOICE was founded in 1974 as an all-volunteer grassroots organization. The agency remained “underground” until receiving our nonprofit status in 1982 and the first employee was hired. Currently, Our VOICE employs seven paid staff and over fifty volunteers. No longer a secretive agency, we are a visible force in the community in an attempt to educate individuals about our services and the issue of sexual violence. For the past 35 years, Our VOICE has provided services to thousands of individuals and their families who have been victimized by sexual crimes.
We are proud to be celebrating our 35th year of providing a variety of specialized services to the Buncombe County community. The need for outreach, advocacy, counseling, and education remains constant for victims and those affected by sexual violence and Our VOICE remains committed to reducing the incidence of sexual violence in our community.
