Description
Senior Companion Program is a Program that recruits, trains, and supports individuals 60 years old and older to give service to those more frail than they in a long-term relationship to cope with isolation and depression in the elderly and disabled. Senior Companions serve 3-8 "Partners" or clients weekly with a minimum of 15 hours of service that includes companionship and transportation. The Program currently has 45 Senior Companions, 40% of whom are bilingual in Spanish and English, who is total give 47,000 hours of service within Pima County, Arizona. It is a win-win focus that helps those who serve and those who are served.
