Orleans County Genealogical Society

Inc. under NYS Education Law the Orleans County Genealogical Society promotes researching, documenting, archiving and sharing family histories. We also collect, preserve and share oral histories, photos, etc., all aspects of the histories of people. A major project of our group has been reenactment of the orphan train era c 1853-1929, where hundreds of thousands of children were taken from poverty/abuse to better homes around the nation- including our area. Fewer than 75 living riders known now, in 2008.
