Description
The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to applied autism research: scientific examination that focuses on autism as it impacts the lives of children and adults with an autism diagnosis, their parents, families, teachers and others who treat them or in some way serve their needs. OAR will be five year's old in December. By that time it will have made research grants for 2006 that will take the total funds committed to new autism research in five years past the $1 million mark.
OAR also provides evidence based informtation to the autism community through its Web site, www.researchautism.org, its monthly e-newsletter, The OARacle, and its "Life Journey through Autism series of resource guides: "A Parent's Guide to Research," "An Educator's Guide to Autism," and "An Educator's Guide to Asperger Syndrome."
