Description
Oregon Wild was born out of a campfire conversation in 1974. Our founders believed that Oregon needed a group devoted to protecting wildlands, wildlife and waters. We work in the field, with the public, and with elected officials to protect the values that make Oregon a special place.
Our work has safeguarded nearly 1.5 million acres of public lands as Wilderness; prevented clear-cut logging of Oregon’s last old-growth forests; protected almost 1,700 miles of Oregon’s rivers to defend clean drinking water and salmon; and preserved our right to enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and fishing in unspoiled lands.
