Description
We build & diversify Oregon’s healthcare workforce thru a pipeline of programs that prepare children & adults to become the healthcare workers of tomorrow. We also facilitate industry planning & coordination activities to define, prepare for & meet future workforce needs. With our partners, we assure the education & training of new healthcare workers who will fill workforce gaps & provide culturally & linguistically appropriate care to their patients. Through OHCC:
•1,000 k-6 grade children per week explore fundamental science concepts that build the academic foundation for health careers
•120 high school students per year prepare for college & learn how to reach their goal of entering a health career
•2,000 high school students discover the array of health careers annually
•115 high school seniors receive a $2,000 scholarship each year
•175+ Healthcare Interpreters and Medical Assistants have been trained
•64 new RNs now work in Oregon’s healthcare system
