Description
Open Arms has provided birth doula services to low-income women and their families in the Puget Sound area since 1997. Our mission is to provide services that support, educate, respect, honor and empower women and their families throughout the childbearing year. We serve about 130 women each year, offering an array of services according to the needs of women and their families. These services include prenatal support and parenting education in the last trimester of pregnancy, continuous emotional and physical support throughout labor and delivery, and postpartum assistance in the first 6 weeks after the baby is born. In addition to direct service to pregnant women and their families, Open Arms provides financial scholarships to women seeking to become certified, practicing doulas.
