Description

Oklahoma Lawyers for Children is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1997 which assists children who are in state custody due to abuse or neglect.

Volunteers interview all children in the shelter daily to explain the court process and gather information about placement and preferences from the child to be given to the volunteer attorney. Volunteers also conduct home studies of potential foster parents to allow the children to be moved from the shelter quickly.

Approximately 400 volunteer attorneys represent the children in juvenile court in Show Cause hearings and other review hearings on a pro bono basis.
