Description
OceansWide has been created to give the students of Maine a first hand look into the largest habitat on Earth - the ocean, just a stone's throw from their front door.
OceansWide enables students to work closely with educators, research scientists, archaeologists and various mediums from Maine and around the world.
OceansWide will empower students to search out ways to become more involved in the research and conservation of the world's oceans as they study the secrets hidden deep beneath the waters of coastal Maine. We will use modern technologies, specifically an unmanned robotic submarine called an ROV and a specialized educational curriculum. While flying the ROV from a surface support ship, students will become involved in real time, hands on experiences in ocean exploration. We will give them the opportunity to dive in and become an integral part of the process which seeks to monitor and understand the ocean - the largest habitat on Earth.
