Description
The OASIS Institute is a national nonprofit organization with a membership of over 365,000 that provides lifelong learning and service programs for adults age 50 and over in 27 cities. Since its founding in 1982, OASIS has built one of the most experienced and successful organizations providing opportunities to challenge the mind, improve health, connect with others, build skills, and serve the community.
Through local OASIS centers and program sites at schools, affordable housing sites, libraries, senior centers, and other locations, OASIS enrolls over 40,000 older adults in its classes, filling nearly 185,000 class slots annually. More than 9,000 OASIS volunteers provide over 550,000 hours of community service each year. OASIS works in partnership at the national level with the National Council on Aging and the U.S. Administration on Aging and at the state and local levels with hundreds of nonprofit organizations providing services and support to the older adult population.
