Description
The mission of Oakland Fund for the Arts is to raise money to fund hands-on arts education programs for kids in underserved Oakland public schools.
Research shows a significant correlation, growing over time, between arts participation and academic performance: the greatest gains were attained by students in the lowest socio-economic quartile--those most at risk for academic failure (Rabkin, 2002).
