Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded to serve the Washington Heights and Inwood communities. Since 1979, NMIC’s services have formed a critical link to the overall stability of these rapidly growing and changing low-income immigrant communities. Our client-centered programs minimize evictions; maximize improvements to the housing stock; provide education and training to increase employment opportunities; support families with child care, case management and domestic violence intervention services; and give residents a greater voice in the decisions that affect their lives. All NMIC services are bilingual, English and Spanish.
Our mission is to provide resources and support to our community's poorest residents, empowering them to secure economic stability and to be active participants in their community.
