Description
We are part of the state wide and nation wide area health education center system. As part of the nation's health care safety net, along with the National Health Service Corps and Community Health Center System, the cornerstone of our mission is to increase access to primary care for the rural and underserved areas. We do this with health care educational facilities and community based health care providers. As a "pipeline" program, our activities include workforce development, health career opportunity programming, placement of medical and other health professions students in required educational rotations, provision of continuing professional education, technical support to our area State Health Improvement Partnerships, job shadowing, recruitment into health careers and job placements in health careers. Our regional office is in Erie, PA and our program office is at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.
