Description
The New 42nd Street was established in 1990 by the City and State of New York to revitalize a stretch of 42nd Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. The organization was entrusted with a 99-year lease on seven historic properties and, in December 1995, it opened the restored New Victory Theater. Since then, it has presented bold, international programming to 1.1 million young people and families, including more than 225,000 schoolchildren and teachers through the New Victory Theater Education Program, and provided paid job training and development to high school and college-age youth through the New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps.
