Description

New Horizons in Autism ("NHIA"), a non-profit organization based in Neptune, NJ, was founded in 1980 by a group of parents who were concerned about the severe lack of services for their children with autism, known as the Community Living for the Autistic. NHIA is dedicated to serving NJ residents with autism, and their families, by delivering community-based services, providing advocacy, support, and technical awareness and educating the public about autism. Currently the organization serves over 300 NJ families through respite, behavior therapy, after-school, vocational, and residential programs. All services provided are customized to meet the needs of each individual in an attempt to improve all skills. The teaching philosophy of NHIA emphasizes independence - and not caregiving.
