Description
Mission
Kurn Hattin is a place of hope. It is an opportunity. Since 1984, its purpose has been to maintain a year-round, residential home for children whose real home is in temporary need. It provides, through trust, and respect, a nurturing environment where boys and girls, ages 6-15, prepare to rejoin their families and to develop into adults whose lives have direction and purpose.
History
Kurn Hattin Homes was founded in 1894 as a home for destitute boys to have a safe and secure haven. Kurn Hattin quickly expanded to include boys and girls from all over the Northeast. Today, approximately 105 children live in cottages on a 280-acre campus in Westminster, Vermont and attend school on campus. They come from families affected by tragedy and hardship, with the average stay being 3-5 years. No child is denied admission for financial reasons.
