New Bethany Ministries’ (Episcopal Ministries of the Diocese of Bethlehem, Inc.) mission is serving the needs of the homeless, the hungry, the poor & the mentally ill. Our goal with homeless families is self-sufficiency & independent living; with poor & mentally disabled adults it is optimization of opportunities & quality of life. It operates a hospitality center that provides two meals daily for over 160 people, daily emergency food baskets & showers; a homelessness prevention program providing financial case management for an average of 100 low-income mentally disabled adults annually; 2 transitional housing programs for 23 families; and permanent housing for 7 families & 42 single adults. It provides housing & support services for about 10% of the homeless children in the Lehigh Valley region annually. In 2010, New Bethany saw an increase in services of almost 14%; meals served of almost 10%; households requiring emergency food of almost 9%; and children needing housing of 15%..
