New Bern Historical Society


The Historical Society is a non-profit membership organization with an IRS 501 (C) 3 tax-exempt classification. Properties owned by the Historical Society are: the Roberts House (location of administrative offices) the Ward House (rental property) the historic Attmore-Oliver House (built in 1790, enlarged in 1854) and a Civil War Battlefield Park Mission The established mission is to preserve and promote the social, cultural and architectural heritage of New Bern and Craven County. This mission is accomplished through: Sponsoring educational programs, events, scholarships and publications Preserving historically or architecturally significant structures and sites Collecting, preserving and exhibiting historical artifacts relevant to New Bern and Craven County Facilitating historically focused activities and promoting heritage tourism
