Description
New Ballet brings together children from all backgrounds by providing a professional standard of training regardless of the ability to pay.
New Ballet travels to local schools presenting performances designed to engage students’ interest in dance by introducing various genres from classical ballet to hip hop and Flamenco (Spanish) dance. Teachers select 60-75 students to participate in follow up workshops. From these participants, New Ballet invites children to audition for the Core Program in the Midtown facility where full scholarships are offered to children from families on the free or reduced lunch program, or who otherwise qualify for financial aid.
The students have many performance opportunities throughout Memphis, stimulating their love of performing, a professional sensibility, sense of responsibility and self- esteem.
Student mix is made up of approximately 30% on full scholarship.
