Description
The Nevada Discovery Museum was established with the goal of building a state-of-the-art, hands-on children’s discovery museum that provides the opportunity for all families in the Reno area to learn and play together. Local focus groups were combined with the creativity and knowledge of a nationally-recognized children’s museum architect and child development specialist, as well as an exhibits specialist with experience in targeting older elementary students to ensure the completion of an outstanding museum design. Our feasibility and funding studies, as well as the completed master plan and business plan show we will have an outstanding and sustainable project. Design and construction firms are contracted, with most providing significant in-kind support. The private phase of the museum’s capital campaign will be completed in 2009, and we expect to begin building renovation in early 2010.
