Description
Under the inspiring leadership of Founder, Director, and Nobel Laureate Gerald M. Edelman, M.D., Ph.D, The Neurosciences Institute is a nonprofit scientific research organization where brilliant minds work together as a team toward a comprehensive understanding of how the brain works for the benefit of mankind.
The human brain is arguably the most complex, extraordinary, and mystifying object in the known universe. Unlike the rest of the body, how the brain works remains fundamentally unknown. Understanding the brain would benefit humankind in countless ways. It would provide a platform for developing more effective treatments for pervasive problems such as depression, addiction, appetite control and insomnia, as well as devastating disorders like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Autism, and Schizophrenia. It would also enhance our ability to learn and remember, and deepen our understanding of how we interpret our world.
