Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods is a capacity building organization that supports the growth and development of vibrant neighborhoods and groups throughout Winston-Salem and Forsyth County by assisting communities in achieving their self-identified goals.
NBN’s programs build a neighborhood’s capacity to create its own success by providing:
Neighborhood Small Grants — to help remove the barrier of limited resources
Training — to help remove the barrier of limited know-how
Organizing and Planning Assistance — to help remove the barrier of isolation and create collaborative opportunities
NBN is dedicated to connecting people, strengthening their voices, and leveraging resources with community in order to create safe, just and self-determined neighborhoods.
Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods envisions an inclusive community where people of all ages, abilities, cultures, races, and income levels live, work and play together.
We are involved and vocal in decisions affecting our neighborhoods. We work in partnership with other neighborhood organizations, human service agencies, businesses and our local government to maintain healthy, confident, self-sustaining communities.
All of our citizens, including our children, older adults, and people with special needs help each other and learn from each other. Education, leadership and service are high priorities.
We believe in equitable, just, and fair treatment for all people.
we believe that everyone has a right to participate, have a voice, and be heard in the community change process.
We believe that all communities have the assets, as well as the responsibility, to lead their own social change process.
We believe in honest, respectful, transparent, and mutually beneficial working relationships.
We believe that government and community stakeholders have a responsibility to listen, be transparent and be responsive to communities.
We believe in learning and sharing knowledge to promote community change.
We believe that community culture is important, and that diverse groups of people can work together for community change.
We believe that community change is a process that happens over time.
