Description

Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) is a private non-profit diverse human service agency that compassionately reaches out to people, empowering them to improve their lives. NSO offers programs that provide a wide variety of services to very special populations in Detroit and southeast Michigan, including working with older adults who suffer from mental illness, providing youth leadership focused on gun violence prevention, supporting children and families with developmental disabilities and reaching out to people in crisis i.e. suicide prevention, problem gambling and substance abuse. Programs also include: supporting grandparents raising grandchildren, providing financial counseling for first-time home buyers, working with low-income families to prepare their children for kindergarten and providing a safe haven for the homeless and transitioning them back into society.
