Description
The NC Dance Project was originally formed in 1974 in Washington, D.C. (as Dance Project, Inc.), where it served as the managing organization for Jan Van Dyke’s school and performance space as well as her dance company. The NC Dance Project has been in operation in North Carolina since 1989 with a similar dual purpose, managing Jan Van Dyke’s current company, the Van Dyke Dance Group, and coordinating the NC Dance Festival. In addition, the NC Dance Project aims to promote modern dance in the Triad area by offering modern dance classes for a reasonable cost to the public, teaching master classes and offering performances in schools, and producing informal public concerts of work by area dance artists. In 2008, NC Dance Project acquired studio space in Greensboro when we assumed the direction of the Dance Project at City Arts and began teaching a variety of classes.
