NSCLC is the only national organization specifically focusing on the legal needs of the elderly poor. NSCLC challenges illegal government policies in the courts, advocates before agencies for full and fair implementation of Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and SSI, and advises advocates across the country on how to protect low-income elderly individuals in their communities. NSCLC has restored hundreds of millions of dollars in benefits for elderly people and protected future beneficiaries who need the same care. Each year we train at least 2,000 advocates and answer more than 1,000 requests from legal services programs and others who represent low-income elderly and disabled people. We also publish self-help materials for consumers who need long-term care and newsletters for advocates. Our website, www.nsclc.org, has a section for consumers.
