In a world where attention is focusing on "coming out" and the glamorous gay lifestyle people with a different value system are overlooked and forgotten. Many people who experience same-sex attractions chose not to act on those feelings for various reasons. For some, they have given the gay lifestyle a try and found it not what they wanted or expected. Others may be concerned about the high rate of sexually transmitted diseases within the culture and choose not to participate or stop current participation, while some find it incompatible with the chosen value system. Whatever the reason an individual or family contacts us, the National Institute on Sexual Identity has not forgotten them or their needs. As a non-profit corporation, NISI exists to meet and support the needs of those not wishing to participate in the gay lifestyle as well as others affected by homosexuality in various settings.
