Description

For nearly 40 years, Diane has battled allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, a condition that has irreversibly scarred her lungs and caused pulmonary fibrosis and bronchiectasis.

Now, she relies on an oxygen tank for every single breath.

Diane and her husband, Michael, have been married for 31 years and have four children together. She is a retired nurse and enjoys gardening and cooking. Although she has faced many challenges, she keeps a positive attitude. She dreams of the day she can breathe freely without depending on a machine.

A double-lung transplant costs approximately $600,000. And that's only the beginning. For the rest of her life, Diane will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
