NCDBW is a national organization which provides assistance to battered women charged with crimes related to their battering. We provide technical assistance to defense teams, conduct trainings for the criminal justice and advocacy communities, consult with local, state and national organizations, and maintain an extensive Resource Library of relevant articles, case law, litigation materials, and legislation. Our broader work is to challenge how communities think about battered women, their use of violence and the criminal justice system as only one of a number of possible community responses. Through that work, we advocate for changes in public policy and institutional and social change.
