Description
My Very Own Book runs reading incentive programs in elementary schools in low-income neighborhoods in North Texas. Students read outside of school hours and are rewarded every six weeks with a certificate and a new, free book of their choice. A the end of the year, the top reader in each class receives a Star Reader medal and the top reader in each school is honored at a banquet. Our program works to increase literacy skills and puts new books into the homes of families who often can't afford to purchase their own new books.
