Description

Mountain Empire Older Citizens (MEOC) is the area agency on aging and public transit authority serving Lee, Scott, Wise Counties and the City of Norton, Virginia. MEOC is also home to the Southwest Virginia Children's Advocacy Center. MEOC is committed to the prevention of unnecessary and/or inappropriate institutionalization of older persons by the development and maintenance of comprehensive user-friendly conmmunity based long term care services and by support to family caregivers through a wide array of services including home delivered meals, personal care, adult day care, respite, congregate nutrition, elder abuse prevention, emergency services, employment services, homemaker, cancer resource center, prescription assistance, public guardianship, public and specialized transportation and insurance counseling. MEOC is also committed to the concept of intergenerational programming with programs like KinCare, Foster Grandparents and Healthy Families.
