Description
The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum
& Garden (built in 1799) transports visitors back to the days when midtown Manhattan was a country escape for New Yorkers living in a crowded city at the southern tip of the island. New York City's only surviving day hotel, this unique museum brings the bygone era of old New York alive for children and adults alike. The Museum’s eight fully furnished period rooms present the various spheres at the Mount Vernon Hotel including the ladies’ double parlors, the gentlemen’s parlor and tavern room, and the historic kitchen. Outside, linger a while as you enjoy the tranquility of the Museum Garden. Docents are available to give guided tours to all visitors including families with young children. Special events are held throughout the year. For more information please call
