Description
The Mosquito Range Heritage Initiative (MRHI) project area lies in northwestern Park County between Hoosier Pass and Weston Pass. This outstanding alpine area west of Fairplay and Alma includes unparalleled opportunities for motorized and non-motorized recreation, protection of the present and historical mining landscape, and conservation of important natural resources. Increasing and conflicting land uses may compromise these values over time.
To complement the region's growth and to protect local values. The Trust for Public Land (TPL) has joined with the Alma Foundation, the Town of Alma, Park County, the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Colorado Preservation Inc., Park County Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, South Park Recreation Inc., Colorado Open Lands, and local citizens to create a vision that will enhance the area's local heritage.
