Since 2001 our organization has rescued animals from euthanasia to provide them with temporary foster housing until permanent homes can be found. In 2004 we established a prison dog training program in which select incarcerated offenders are paired with rescued dogs. The handler/dog teams live together learning social skills and obedience commands. At the end of each session, the dogs are made available for adoption.
We have formed a partnership with Westville Correctional Facility in Westville, IN who provides facilities and participants.
In 2006, our program, Prison Tails won awards for Program of the Year from both the Indiana Department of Corrections and The American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Program.
