Major gaps in family and community support, compounded by poverty, violence, gang activity, and hopelessness, put many Boston youth at high risk for violence, dropout, incarceration and substance abuse. MissionSAFE works intensively w/ 300 high-risk youth (11-24) to develop their potential and pathways to positive alternatives. Our wrap-around services help youth develop concrete skills, supports and confidence for future success; including high school graduation, college access, career choices, healthy relationships and meaningful civic engagement. We seek out youth who are failing/struggling in school, and/or have experienced trauma. We work to help them stay and succeed in school; cultivate/develop interests, goals, positive values, leadership and peaceful conflict resolution skills - creating a foundation for resilience, violence prevention and positive transformation. We address the needs of the whole child, within the context of the home, school, and neighborhood community.
