Milwaukee College Prep is a school of uncompromising academic and social expectations serving Milwaukee's central city. It is an independent charter (public) school, authorized by UW-Milwaukee. Any child who lives in the City of Milwaukee is eligible to attend at no cost. Statistically these students have a very slim chance of success (99% black, 66% from single parent homes, 75% low income) and every child is accepted through a random selection process. Yet, a trip to the school will introduce you to some of the most respectful, hard working, and focused students you will find anywhere. The results on state testing benchmarks have been fantastic and the school boasts a 95% attendance rate. Graduates attend such prestigious college prep high schools as Marquette High, University School of Milwaukee, Wayland Academy (in Beaver Dam, WI), Brookfield Academy, Dominican, Rufus King, Pius, the Thacher School in Ojai, CA and Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.
