Description
Michigan State University Safe Place was established in 1994 to help combat the problem of domestic and relationship violence in the MSU Community. MSU Safe Place offers temporary and safe shelter, advocacy, support and referrals for MSU students, staff, faculty or their partners who are experiencing domestic violence, including minor children of those who are abused. Advocacy and support services are available to shelter residents and non-resident clients and include counseling, support groups, court accompaniment, housing assistance, and meeting with representatives who are working with a survivor to make sure their needs are being met (legal, financial, educational, etc.). MSU Safe Place also provides scholarships to survivors of domestic and relationship violence who have had to interrupt their education due to the violence they experienced.
