Description
Mercy Meals and More, Inc. is a 501 3c non profit organization that operates New Bedford's only daily breakfast program. Meals are offered free and a donation box is available for those who are able to make a contribution. Meals are served restaurant-style with table service. We believe this respects the dignity of our guests and promotes a sense of community. In addition to meals, used clothing and books are available. Volunteers come from area faith communities and the general public. People in need of community service hours are encouraged to volunteer. Once a week we have student nurses from UMASS Dartmouth come to provide blood pressure checks and talk to guests about their health challenges. An average of 100 meals are served each day at a cost of about $2.00 per meal.
