Description

MHAU is dedicated to an expansive definition of mental health and works to support both diversity and inclusion. MHAU has been in existance since 1954 and is involved in the following major focus areas.(1) Suicide Prevention Programs. Each year MHAU holds an annual walk for suicide prevention. Our 4th annual"Awakening Utah: Walk for Suicide Prevention" was held on April22, 2006 and drew over 1200 participants. (2) "The Campaign for Self Advocacy; Training the Trainers". This program moves consumers of mental health services towards economic self-sufficiency. (3) "Cultural Competency Training for Mental Health Professionals". MHAU has trained over 300 professionals in cultural competency.
(4) Educational presentations. We give hundereds of presentations each year on mental health topics.
