Let me tell you a little about us. Shortly after John’s death, a scholarship was established in his memory. Last year John’s scholarship broadened its scope, and formed its own Florida nonprofit corporation, Memorial Scholarships, Inc. (MSI). Our scholarships and grants are designed by the requesting family or organization and are funded by donations and events.
Memorial Scholarships, Inc. hosts events throughout the year to raise funds and promote public interest in our scholarships. All the activities for John’s scholarships encourage and promote student community service without the use of drugs or alcohol. In particular, the John Yancy Memorial Scholarships memorialize his last words to his friends and family, “don’t smoke or EVER do drugs for me”.
