Description
The mission of the Guardian ad Litem Advocacy Foundation is to raise community awareness by educating the public about issues involving abused and neglected children and the benefits of the Guardian ad Litem program. The Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) program recruits, screens, trains and professionally supervises community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in foster care. Before a GAL volunteer can accept a case they must go through 30 hours of training and 3 hours of court room observation. The volunteers then commit to work their GAL case for a minimum of one year or until the case is closed (often 18 months to 2 years).
