Description
The McAuley Institute at St. Mary's Medical Center is the only nonprofit adolescent inpatient program in San Francisco that provides comprehensive mental health services, regardless of ones ability to pay. Founded in 1963, McAuley's mission is to take the adolescent patient from a mental health crisis to reintegration into their family and community and help young people regain a sense of stability and self-sufficiency in their lives.
McAuley typically admits 50 young patients every month, and the programs are usually full to capacity throughout the school year. Treatment
includes individual therapy, family therapy, milieu
therapy, psychological testing, medication evaluation and education, and referrals to long-term subacute community treatment programs.
