Maya Angelou Charter School

Mission Our mission is to create learning communities in lower income urban areas where all students, particularly those who have not succeeded in traditional schools, can reach their potential. At Maya Angelou our students develop the academic, social and employment skills that they need to build rewarding lives and promote positive change in their communities. Our Campuses The School's initial campus (Maya Angelou PCS-Shaw) is located in the heart of the District, just blocks from Howard University, on the corner of 9th and T Streets, NW. The school's second campus (Maya Angelou PCS-Evans), which opened in partnership with the District of Columbia Public Schools in September 2004, is located at 5600 East Capitol Street, NE, in the former Evans Middle School building. Our third campus is scheduled to open in September 2007.
