Lyons Middle School is located in the northern part of Clinton, Iowa. Clinton is a city located in Clinton County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 27, 772. It is located along the Mississippi River and is the county seat of Clinton County. It was named in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt, Clinton. Lyons Middle School is one of two middle schools located in the Clinton Community School District. Lyons has a student population which is composed of 48% males and 52% females. Demographically, Lyons Middle consists of the following student ethnic make up: 5% African American, 2% Asian, 1% Native American, 5% Hispanic, 88% White and other. There is a 42% of low income and 27% special education population that attend Lyons.
