Founded in 1971, Long Island Crisis Center is a multi-service, community-based organization whose mission is to provide seniors, families, adults and youth throughout Long Island with free, confidential services to address a wide range of concerns. We believe that everyone has the right to free and anonymous help at any time, no matter who they are or what their needs may be.
We operate a 24/7 crisis intervention hotline and offer online counseling. We run programs like Pride for Youth, providing support services for LGBT youth, and Street Outreach/Gang Intervention where our trained workers are out on the streets, talking to at-risk youth. Community educators run workshops in local middle and high schools on topics as anger management, suicide prevention, homophobia and gang prevention.
