Description
LNGC helps adults and children develop literacy skills through five core programs: 1)Adult learners and volunteers call the Literacy Hotline for literacy resources. Each caller receives information either over the phone or via mail. 2)Cincinnati Reads recruits and trains tutors to help K-4th grade students who are reading below grade level. 3)The Tutor Training & Coordination Program offers basic training classes for volunteers who want to tutor adults with low-level reading skills as well as advanced tutoring workshops on special topics such as learning disabilities and teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages. 4)The Adult Basic Reading Program teaches basic literacy skills to adults with dyslexia or symptoms of dyslexia. Classes are free of charge and utilize research-supported, multi-sensory, structured language techniques. 5)The Children’s Basic Reading Program is a two-year after-school class for 1st-5th grade children with severe reading difficulties.
